What is ABDM?

There are no global parallels to explain ABDM. But closer to home, the UPI framework can be used to understand ABDM quite easily. UPI enables you to transfer money from one entity to another irrespective of which bank the two entities have their accounts in. Similarly, ABDM will enable the movement of health information from one entity to another irrespective of whether the two are connected to each other or not. If you get your health check-up done at any lab and want to share the reports with your Doctor (or Hospital or Insurance Co.) the same can be done with a click.

How many medical records can I upload on DRiefcase?

There is no limit on the number of medical records that can be uploaded. You can upload as many medical records and as many times as you want.

Similarly, there is no limit to retrieval as well.

What's the benefit of ABDM for me?

ABDM is win-win situation for all stakeholders in the healthcare ecosystem. But the biggest beneficiary is you, the patient. With the ABDM, healthcare information can be shared seamlessly. Soon, the bulky files that you carry around to your Doctor and Hospital will be a thing of the past. No more losing records, no more re-tests, no more stress. Further, better health history will allow your doctor to provide quicker and better diagnosis. Finally, purchasing insurance and processing claims will be faster and cheaper.

How does ABDM work?

Let's use the example of UPI again. When you use any UPI app (GPay, PhonePe, Paytm, etc), you are essentially giving consent for money to move from your bank account to another. The request for transfer could be originated by you or any vendor who you need to pay. That is also how the ABDM works.

Can I share my records with anyone from DRiefcase?

Yes. There are two ways to share records with your doctor or family or friend.

1. Share As An Attachment: Use the native e-mail or internet messaging service or similar modes to share records. The recipient will receive these records as attached files.

2. Share As A Link: Use DRiefcase to share records in-app with anyone, anywhere in our safe and secure environment. Plus, you can decide what records to share and until what date such records should be visible to that person. The recipient will need to register with DRIefcase in case they do not have an account already.

Does it cost to become a user of DRiefcase?

No. Your DRiefcase account is free for life to register and use. This means that you can upload and retrieve records for you and your family without any cost.

However, DRiefcase also offers certain premium services that are available to its users and can be purchased online through a secure payment gateway.

What information or documentation is required to create ABHA?

To create your ABHA account you need to register using Aadhaar, Driving License, or just a mobile phone number and provide basic personal details such as your name, year of birth, gender, address, and mobile number.

Usage of Aadhaar in the process of creating ABHA is voluntary. If you do not want to use your Aadhaar for ABHA creation, you can simply use your Mobile Number. However, if you use Aadhaar to generate your ABHA then please make sure that your mobile number is linked to your Aadhaar since an OTP will be sent to the mobile number linked to your Aadhaar.

What about data privacy with ABDM?

Data privacy is non-negotiable and ABDM has built the data privacy in its basic design. No sharing of health information happens without your explicit consent. Let's go back to UPI (again!). Can money move from your account to someone else's account without you approving it via a PIN / OTP? Health information is protected in the same manner. But what it also means is that as a user you need to take the same precautions as you take with your bank account or UPI account. Don't share password or OTP with anyone.

How can I update the records on DRiefcase after visiting the Doctor?

With the In-app Upload feature, it is very easy to keep your medical history updated on DRiefcase. Just click a photo of the records post your Doctor visit and upload it. You can even do it on your way back home!

In fact, most path-labs now email the reports to you. Simply ensure that you give them your DRiefcase-registered email id and just forward their email to upload@driefcase.com

What are the advantages of using the DRiefcase App instead of the DRiefcase website?

DRiefcase can be accessed through mobile apps (Android and iOS) or through a fully functional, mobile friendly website.

We think you should use DRiefcase across all platforms.

The mobile app let’s you access your account and view records even when there is no internet (provided you have already viewed such records once before). Plus, uploading documents is much easier on the mobile app (using the camera phone).

On the other hand, if you are travelling to a place with poor mobile networks (or travelling offshore without a data connection), you will still be able to access your records on DRiefcase using our website, so long as you have wired internet connectivity.
