Are you ready to dive into the latest advancements in WiFi technology that will revolutionise the way we connect to the internet in 2024? In this article, we will explore the cutting-edge developments that are shaping the future of WiFi connectivity and keeping us one step ahead of the digital curve.

WiFi Connectivity: The Backbone of our Digital World

It's no secret that WiFi has become an essential part of our daily lives, enabling us to stay connected at home, in the office, and on the go. Whether we're streaming our favourite shows, video chatting with loved ones, or working remotely, a reliable WiFi connection is crucial for staying productive and entertained in the digital age. So, what can we expect from WiFi technology in 2024? Let's take a closer look at some of the key trends and innovations that are set to transform the way we experience and interact with the internet.

Enhanced Speed and Bandwidth

One of the most exciting developments in WiFi technology for 2024 is the promise of even faster speeds and increased bandwidth. With the rollout of WiFi 6E and the upcoming introduction of WiFi 7, users can look forward to lightning-fast connections that will allow for smoother streaming, faster downloads, and seamless browsing experiences. ACT SmartWifi powered by wifi6 employs frequency division multiple access (OFDMA), a significant feature that boosts overall Wifi performance. It ensures that different devices which have varying bandwidth needs (i.e. streaming vs. browsing) , get their required wifi bandwidth. i.e. a streaming device will be optimised for higher bandwidth, while a mobile with text chat/email usage will be optimised differently. So overall, wifi bandwidth is smartly utilised. In a dual-band configuration, ACT Smartwifi powered by WiFi 6 upgrades the number of streams to a record high of 12 across the 2.4 and 5 GHz bands, whereas WiFi 5 has an 8-stream maximum. Devices with WiFi 6 get upto 38% boost in performance over their WiFi 5 equivalents.

Improved Security Features

In an era where online privacy and data security are top concerns, WiFi technology is evolving to provide enhanced security features that keep our personal information safe and secure. From advanced encryption protocols to biometric authentication, the latest WiFi innovations are designed to protect us from cyber threats and ensure our digital data remains private.

ACT SmartFiber® technology, which provides for state-of-the-art network security by partnering with multiple global partners and implementing best-in-class tools. Its dual-stack ready (IPV4/6) technology enables better safety and future scalability for IoT. With the upgrade, all ACT SmartFiber® users will be protected by a state-of-the-art DNS security system that is synced and updated in real-time as and when new threats are discovered. This helps in protecting against botnet attacks and proliferation in customer devices as well as automatically block bad reputation/phishing/malicious sites with security concerns and protect customers. IPv6 was introduced over a decade ago, and still, adoption has been slow. With this update, ACT Fibernet users will experience vastly improved performance, auto-configuration of devices, and increased security. ACT Fibernet has also partnered with F-secure to launch ACT Shield, which propagates the aforementioned challenges to protect its clients on both, an individual and corporate level. Hence, ACT Shield can be considered a partner that protects your data from cyberattacks with the utmost rigor. Moreover, being in association with F-secure elevates ACT Shield’s gateway protection capabilities.

IoT Integration

The Internet of Things (IoT) is revolutionising the way we interact with our devices, from smart thermostats and home assistants to connected cars and wearable tech. In 2024, WiFi technology will play a crucial role in enabling seamless connectivity between these devices, creating a truly interconnected ecosystem that enhances our daily lives and simplifies our routines.

Mesh Networking

Traditional WiFi networks can sometimes struggle to provide consistent coverage in larger homes or office spaces. That's where mesh networking comes in. By creating a network of interconnected nodes that work together to provide seamless coverage throughout your space, mesh WiFi systems offer improved performance and reliability, ensuring that you stay connected wherever you are.

Conclusion: Embracing the Future of WiFi Technology

As we look ahead to 2024, it's clear that WiFi technology is poised to deliver an unprecedented level of speed, security, and connectivity that will reshape the way we interact with the internet. With advancements in speed, security, IoT integration, and mesh networking that comes with ACT SmartFiber, the future of WiFi is bright, promising a more connected and efficient digital experience for users around the world.

So, are you ready to embrace the exciting possibilities that WiFi technology has in store for 2024? Stay tuned for more updates on the latest trends and innovations that are shaping the future of connectivity in our rapidly evolving digital world.
